Eva Belgherbi
Eva Belgherbi École du Louvre alumna (2016), has been preparing a PhD on the training of women sculptors in France and the United Kingdom (1863-1914) since 2017. With a strong background in national and regional museums as well as the art market, she joined the Marc Chagall catalogue raisonné team as head of documentation in 2022.
As part of the program surrounding the exhibition “The Paris of Modernity: 1905-1925” at the Petit Palais (November 2023-April 2024), her lecture, “Marc Chagall in Paris 1911-14: What Modernity Did He Encounter?”, analyzed the reception of Chagall’s works during his first stay in Paris. Her article “The story of three paintings. From a monumental work to a "triptych", between France and the United States (1937-1952)”, published on the Marc Chagall catalogue raisonné website, told the story of three works by the artist. In addition to her bibliographical referencing work for the catalogue raisonné, Ms. Belgherbi focuses her research on Chagall's exile in New York during the Second World War and his links with the Pierre Matisse gallery in order to put him in a transnational and political context.
