Rights and reproductions

The Marc Chagall Estate holds the exclusive right to grant third parties the right to use the artist's works, including the right of reproduction and/or representation in the meaning of Volume III of the French Intellectual Property Code, as well as the artist's personality rights and trademarks.

The Marc Chagall Estate has asked ADAGP (Association des auteurs dans les arts graphiques et plastiques, or Society of Authors in the Graphic and Visual Arts) to manage the artist's copyright for France and the rest of the world. Any request to use the artist's works must be sent directly to ADAGP for prior consent. Any unauthorized use constitutes an infringement of copyright.

REPRODUCTION AUTHORIZATION

  • On the ADAGP website, fill in the authorization request form
  • Send the mock-up of the document (pdf format including images and texts) as well as the page(s) mentioning the copyrights and obtain approval from the Marc Chagall Estate.
  • Receive HD files and then destroy them after using them for the purpose for which you obtained these permissions.

COMMITMENTS TO BE OBSERVED

All reproductions of works by Marc Chagall must be subject to a prior written request. The terms for reproducing the work shall be formalized in writing, provided that it will contain, at least, the following commitments:

  • The work reproduced may not be cut or cropped in any way, unless prior approval has been obtained and a reference (detail) has been included in the work's description.
  • The work must be reproduced in its original color.
  • All reproductions must be accompanied, near or in a detailed list, by the illustrations reproduced, as well as the following caption and copyright notice.
